Description
Vegas Strong! On October 1, 2017 Las Vegas experienced the largest mass shooting in U.S. history when a lone gunman open fired on the crowd attending the Route 91 Harvest Festival. There were 58 lives lost, 500 injured and hundreds who felt helpless and emotionally traumatized by this unspeakable act of violence. The aftermath of this horrific event brought our community, locals and visitors together as we struggled to try and make sense of something that made no sense. Our community fought back and rallied around this event, it made us strong…#VegasStrong!
We are honored to offer our #VegasStrong Tour in memory of those lost that fateful day. The tour begins at the famous “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign, the location that became the memorial site when Greg Zanis, a retired carpenter known for his “Crosses for Losses”, drove nearly 2000 miles from Aurora, Illinois to Las Vegas to deliver his hand-made, white wooden crosses with a red heart, each one baring the name of the 58. He lined up the crosses behind the Welcome sign to honor the 58 and bring comfort, hope and love to the grieving families whose lives had just been shattered. The crosses will eventually be on display at the Clark County Museum in Henderson, Nevada, a special place where people can visit to give support to the survivors and the victims’ families.
The Vegas Strong tour continues making stops at each of the iconic properties represented in the above heart that embraces this wonderful City; the High Roller Ferris Wheel, the Eifel Tower and the Luxor, New York New York, Stratosphere, and Wynn/Encore Hotels with a stop in between for a beverage and appetizer at Beer Park, Las Vegas’ first rooftop bar and grill overlooking the famous singing Fountains at the Bellagio Hotel.
Be a part of the Vegas Strong Photo Tour and receive a commemorative medal etched with the date of October 1, 2017. A $5.00 per person donation from each tour will go directly to the Victim’s Family Fund.
